What to Expect During Your Family Photo Session?

Booking a family photo session is exciting — but it can also bring up a lot of questions, especially if it’s your first time. As a family photographer in Rockmart, Georgia, I want you to feel prepared, relaxed, and confident going into your shoot. Here’s exactly what you can expect before, during, and after your session with me!

Before Your Session: Planning + Prep

Once we book your session date, we will schedule a complimentary phone call to chat about the details and I’ll guide you through every step of the process!

• Style & Wardrobe Help: After our phone call if we haven't decided on everything I’ll send over our "What to wear" blog with color palette suggestions and tips for dressing the whole family so your photos look timeless and cohesive — perfect for outdoor sessions around Northwest Georgia and beyond! I will ultimately help you dress everyone, via phone calls or texts until we sort everyone out!

• Location Selection: We’ll choose the perfect location together! Some of my favorite spots for family photography near Rockmart include my private property with lush open pasture complete with the cutest cows, here in Aragon, Georgia, other countryside areas with beautiful golden-hour light, waterfall or creek locations in Cedartown, an old Barn and pasture location in Dallas, Georgia, etc.

• Scheduling: Sessions typically take place during golden hour (right after sunrise or just before sunset) for the most flattering and glowing light. I’ll help you pick the best time based on your family’s needs and the season in Northwest Georgia!

During Your Session: Relax and Get Ready for all of the Tickles + Cuddles!

Most Rockmart family photo sessions last about 45–60 minutes, sometimes longer if newborns are involved!

Here’s what the experience looks like:

• Lets Break the ice: We’ll start with a few relaxed shots to get everyone comfortable and used to the camera. I’ll interact with your babies, get them giggling, and ease into the flow of the session.

• Posed + Candid Moments: Expect to have a documentary or "story-telling" style session with the most genuine smiles and giggles to create beautiful portraits to cherish, but don't worry, I will absolutely do my best to get some of those "all-looking" portraits!​

  One thing you will notice about your experience is that I don't always "pose" you, those can generate stiff and forced photos that don't look natural at all. Instead, I will "give you a story" and give you prompts to follow so I can naturally capture your love!

• Go With the Flow: If your toddler isn’t in the mood or your baby needs a break, that’s totally okay! All of our sessions have a relaxed time-setting, so dont worry if we need a baby feeding break or toddler snack break! As a Rockmart family photographer, I’m used to working with little ones and always keep sessions calm and flexible!

After Your Session: Sneak Peeks + Gallery Delivery

• Sneak Peek: You’ll get a sneak peek of a few favorite images posted on our Photography Page within 48 hours! — perfect for sharing with family & posting on social media!

• Final Gallery: In about 1-2 weeks, you’ll receive a full online gallery of your hand edited photos — ready for download, printing, or sharing!

• Optional Prints & Albums: I also offer print packages, wall art, and custom-designed albums to help you preserve your memories from your family photography session in Northwest, GA.

• Try to time naps around your session if naps are a must for your littles, and make sure they've had a bite to eat! Hungry kids make grumpy faces! No is happy when they're hungry!
